ACCESSIBILITY & SUPPORT

CHILDREN AND YOUTH

Additional needs children are an important part of St John’s family. St John’s believes that all children are created by God and so valued equally. Our aim is to create an environment where every child feels safe, loved and provided with an opportunity to encounter God.

With this in mind, we look to provide activities that all children and youth are able to access, In order for us to do this we have a trained team of volunteers ready to assist and be deployed as 1:1 support.

If you are able, it would be great if you could let us know you are planning on attending so we can speak with you to learn your child’s individual needs to helps prepare the best support for them.

SUNDAY WORSHIP

We consider our worship to be lively and so it can, at times, be considered as fairly loud. We appreciate that this is not always easy and that some people can be extra sensitive to the volume for many reasons. We provide ear defenders, and ear plugs in accessibility box by the sound desk in the main hall.

Our sound loop in the main worship hall is Sound Loop. If you require any more information about our facilities for hearing impairments please do get in touch with us.

If you require us to alter the format of any of our church’s literature (ie. larger print) please contact the office and we would be happy to arrange this.

ST JOHN’S CHURCH - Access in to the building

St John’s currently worships on a Sunday at 351 Coventry Road, Hinckley.

At the front of the building there are 2 disabled parking bays available on the left as soon as you turn into the car park.

The kerb has been dropped on the right of the main entrance for wheel-based transportation.

There is also a double door fire exit down the left side of the main worship hall that can be opened for access. The Small hall also has a doubled door exit that takes you through a small cloakroom straight into the rear car park.

ST JOHN’S CHURCH - Access inside the building

The main worship hall is accessed through a main foyer and double doors and all the chairs are unfixed and moveable. We also structure in wide aisle to allow for ease of access up and down them.

We have an accessible toilet off the corridor, on the right-hand side of the main foyer. All floors are level with a door strip between the corridor and the toilet.

Assistant Dogs are welcomed.

If you have any concerns, or would like more information on specific access or building structure, please contact us and we will do all we can to help you.
